Recreation Director

The Candler County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Recreation Director. This position is a full-time, salaried position within the recreation department of Candler County, Georgia. The position oversees the operations of the department including program delivery, coordination of activities, maintenance of facilities, and public outreach on behalf of the department. The position trains and directs full-time, part-time and seasonal staff.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the principals and practices of public and recreation administration, knowledge and experience in providing recreation services, knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures applicable to recreation service delivery and county government. In addition, candidates should possess skill in communication, both written and verbal, interpersonal skills, the ability to manage a budget, develop short and long term plans, and operate maintenance equipment and power tools.

Successful candidates will have, at minimum:

• Associates degree or technical certification in a course of study related to recreation delivery or public services delivery or public services delivery, more that two years related to recreation delivery

• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license issued by the state of Georgia

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Bachelors degree in a related field and more than 5 years of related experience
