The Johnson County Board of Commissioners has an immediate opening for the position of Assistant Mechanic. This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Head Mechanic and Assistant Mechanic with the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Maintenance Department. This position reports to the Head Mechanic.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for overhauling and maintaining automotive and road maintenance equipment. Work requires the application of standard trade practices, but within established departmental policies and procedures. Difficulty and responsibility increase based on experience, training, and/or service.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations that are commonly associated with the completion of, at a minimum, a high school diploma. The successful candidate must also possess sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship, or having held a similar position for one to two years. The successful candidate must possess or have the ability to readily obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license for the class of vehicles or equipment operated. Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen.
