School Resource Officer

Johnson County Schools is seeking a School Resource Officer (SRO). The minimum requirements are a High School Diploma or GED and the following certifications or licenses: a valid Georgia driver's license, and Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification which is required before submitting an application. The job duties of the School Resource Officer are to support and protect the educational process within the school district for on-campus school related activities, The School Resource Officer will help promote a safe and secure environment by building positive relationships with students and staff, ensure the enforcement of city and state laws where applicable, preservation of public order, protection of life, and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime on school property. The School Resource Officer will coordinate with school and community agencies to support teaching and learning in the school district to protect students, staff, and community visitors from physical harm and prevention loss to district property resulting in criminal activity. The School Resource Officer may be required be required to physically restrain parties involved in conflicts and make arrests if needed. In Extreme cases. The School Resource Officer may be exposed to violent and /or armed confrontations on campus or off campus school related activities. The School Resoucrce Officer will serve as security officer at school realted activities. The terms of employment are 190 days per year.
