Job Description

Job Title:                     School Bus Monitor

Qualifications:   

1. Must be able to read and write and understand the English language.

2. Must pass annual physical examination and random drug/alcohol testing.

3. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

4. Demonstrates physical and mental abilities to perform all essential duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively.

Reports to: Bus Driver

Duties and Responsibilities:   

• Communicate effectively with students.

• Assist in the management and control of student behavior.

• Assist with loading/unloading of students, including wheelchairs, making sure all equipment and medical accessories are properly stored and secured before the bus is moving

• Supervise seating arrangements.

• Assist with emergency care of students with medical needs.

• Assist with evacuation procedures.

• Attend all in-service training as required.

• Assist driver in other related bus duties.

• Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.

• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.

• Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies

• Other duties as assigned by the bus driver or Transportation Director.
