LAURENS COUNTY

Mariah Faison is from Laurens County and enrolled in the WIOA Youth Program in March 2024.  At the time, she was a junior at East Laurens High School and needed assistance to complete her high school education, as well as gain work experience.  During her junior and senior years, she was dual enrolled at Georgia Military College, and WIOA provided her with stipends each day of attendance.  She participated in Youth Work Experience and Occupational Skills Training.  Mariah recently received her high school diploma and has been accepted to Georgia Southern University.  She has worked very hard, and we are so proud of her accomplishments. 

Mariah had this to say, “When I joined WIOA, I was seeking a way to obtain job experience and training, and this program ended up being exactly what I needed.  I am so thankful for the opportunities provided by this program.  I was able to secure a job that allowed me to improve my resume, which I will need when applying for future job opportunities.  Thanks for everything, WIOA.”
