Charles Ashley enrolled in the WIOA Program in June 2021. He wanted to attend the University of Georgia (UGA) to earn a degree in Pharmacy, and he needed financial assistance. During his time in the WIOA Out-of-School Youth Program, Charles completed Occupational Skills Training and participated in the Work Experience program. He was placed at Eastman Drugs for work experience and was able to see what it would be like working in his field of study. WIOA helped cover the cost of supplies, fees, and provided him with transportation stipends to help with the financial burden of college.

He recently graduated from UGA with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and has accepted a full-time position as a Pharmacist at Fairview Park Hospital. We are so proud of Charles for his hard work and devotion to his education. Charles had this to say about his time in the WIOA program. “Today I am a licensed pharmacist, and I can say that without WIOA, I am not sure if I would have been able to achieve this lifelong goal. I am so thankful for the assistance I received.”
