Human Resources Manager

 

Summary of Job Function

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resource Manager to join our team. The HR Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization's human resources policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with applicable federal and state employment, health, and safety laws and regulations. This role requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of HR best practices.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

-Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

-Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

-Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. 

-Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. This includes addressing performance issues and taking appropriate corrective actions as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

-Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

-Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

-Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

-Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

-Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

-Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for team members, offering feedback for growth and development.

-Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation, ensuring compliance with data privacy and confidentiality requirements.

-Responds to frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. Redirects more complex inquiries to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.

-Safeguards the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records, upholding the organization's commitment to protecting sensitive information.

-Conducts periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure the collection and proper filing of all required documents, maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.

-Offers clerical support to the HR department, assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of HR operations.

-Provides assistance with payroll functions, which may include processing, addressing employee inquiries, rectifying processing errors, and facilitating the distribution of paychecks. Collaborates with the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, supporting both routine and exceptional payroll-related tasks.

-Serves as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, overseeing communication and coordination related to health, disability, and retirement plans.

-Participates in or facilitates new hire orientation, ensuring that new employees receive the necessary information to smoothly integrate into the organization.

-Assists in the planning and execution of special events, such as benefits enrollment, company-wide meetings, employee recognition programs, holiday gatherings, and retirement celebrations.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

-Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

-Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

-Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.

-Performs other duties and assignments as required.

 

Education and/or Experience

-Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.  Experience may be used toward educational requirements.

-A minimum of four (4) years of human resource management experience preferred.

-SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.

 

Physical Requirements

-Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

-Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 

-Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
