Facilities Maintenance Technician

This positon is responsible for maintenance of County buildings.
Major duties include, but are not limited, to: participating in the custodial maintenance of county buildings, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, and cleaning restrooms; inspecting buildings and structures to identify malfunctions and repair needs; making notes and recommendations to resolve issues; installing, maintaining, and repairing locks and related hardware, installing and repairing lighting; preparing and maintaining maintenance logs and records repairing lighting: preparing and rearraning office furniture; ordering and stocking supplies; maintainig assigned equipment and vehicles; collecting and emptying receptacles; responding to after-hour emergencies; and performing related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and skills required, but are not limited, to: building maintenance principles and practices; tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of building systems; use of hand and power tools; and oral and written comminication.
Guidelines, which are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in their application include: Material Safety Data Sheets, OSHA Safety Guidelines, ADA Standards, and department policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications include ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent; sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had similar position for three years; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
