Groundskeeper/Maintenance Worker

The City of Metter is accepting applications for a Groundskeeper/Maintenance Worker. Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, a valid Georgia driver's license, be in good physical condition, ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations. Applications are available at City Hall at 49 South Rountree Street, Metter, Georgia. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a. m. until 5:00 p. m. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The pay range for this position is $14.00 hourly to $21.30 hourly. All job applicants being considered for employment shall be required to pass a drug and alcohol screening test prior to being hired.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Clears right-of-ways

• Cuts grass with a push mower

• Used a weed eater

• Uses an edger

• Fills potholes

• Trims hedges

• Landscaping in parks and along roadways of the city

• Occasionally drives trucks

• Mandatory from time to time to ride the back of the Sanitation Truck as a back-up refuse collector

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge of the geography of the City of Metter

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for an extended period of time

• Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions

• Ability to acquire some skill in the use of small hand tools used in the area of assignment
