Full-time Assistant Director of Human Resources/Career Services

The Assistant Director will provide support to the Direct of Human Resources/Career Resources and the functions of department.

ResponsibilitiesAssists with planning, developing, establishing, implementing, and administering the personnel and human resource management and career services function in accordance with the mission and goals of East Georgia State College and the University Systems of Georgia.Assists with the human resource functions for the Swainsboro, Statesboro, and Augusta locations, including but not limited to staffing, employee orientation, education and training, management development, employee and labor relations, affirmative action compliance, diversity, policies and procedures, workers’ compensation administration, wage and salary administration, classification, benefits administration, employee assistance, and student employment.Assists with the management of Career Services, including but not limited to counseling students and alumni in career planning skills and job search strategies; coordination of training skills workshops and career forums; planning and implementing marketing strategy for identifying a diverse group of potential employers; performing aggressive searches for information about employment opportunities; educational programming; policies and procedures; career services library; maintenance of CSO databases; and developing effective working relationships with students, alumni, staff, and other placement professionals and stakeholders.Strategic and budgetary planning development.Acts as a proxy for the Director of Human Resources as needed in his or her absence.Assists with directing the work of human resource/career services personnel.Attends conferences, meetings and training sessions.Assists with preparing statistical data and other reports for internal and external constituencies for human resources and career services including: IPEDS, AAUP, US Census, HRDM, and Great Colleges.The Assistant Director position includes other duties as assigned and specific duties that are listed in the respective assigned task list.

Required QualificationsKnowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor’s master's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require two years of related experience.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
