JOB DESCRIPTION
Beasley Group is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Tilt Hoist Operator to join our Dry Sorter team in Hazlehurst, Georgia. The Tilt Hoist Operator is responsible for operating the tilt hoist system that unloads kiln-dried lumber packages onto the dry sorter production line. This position ensures a continuous flow of lumber through the sorting process while maintaining safe equipment operation, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall production efficiency.
Responsibilities
Operate the tilt hoist to safely unload kiln-dried lumber packages onto the dry sorter conveyor system.
Maintain a consistent flow of material to support production goals.
Monitor lumber packages for proper alignment and positioning before entering the sorter line.
Communicate with forklift operators and dry sorter personnel to coordinate material flow.
Inspect the tilt hoist and surrounding equipment before and during each shift.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions, damaged lumber packages, or unsafe operating conditions.
Clear jams and remove debris while following all lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
Assist with routine housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work area.
Support preventive maintenance activities as directed.
Cross-train in other dry sorter and planer mill production positions as needed.
Follow all company safety policies and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Previous experience in a sawmill, planer mill, dry sorter, manufacturing, or industrial production environment is preferred.
Experience operating industrial production equipment is preferred.
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work safely around conveyors, moving lumber, and heavy equipment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Dependable attendance and a commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
Frequently bend, reach, twist, squat, and climb stairs or platforms.
Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures.
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots.
