JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for administering the county's senior citizen programs, services, operations, and activities. This position is also responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of mandated services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff of employees and volunteer workers; processes employee concerns and problems; ensures staff are trained; provides guidance; directs work, counsels, disciplines, and completes employee performance appraisals.
Supervises and coordinates programs and activities provided by the Johnson County Senior Citizens Center, including congregate and home delivered meals, transportation services, in-house programs/activities, nutrition education, physical fitness, and other activities which encourage attendance and participation.
Accepts individuals into the program adhering to the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging's Gateway Policies and Procedures; completes and maintains enrollment records including Client Registration Form, Determination of Need - Revised and NSI Checklist; updates client files as required.
Assumes responsibility for collection and documentation of voluntary contributions, cost share payments, and private payments received from participants; prepares bank deposits and forwards as appropriate.
Provides counseling, referral, and crisis intervention services for participants as needed; assists seniors in matters involving Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, social security, legal, and insurance supplements.
Ensures compliance with all applicable health and safety codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
Prepares various reports for submission to the Heart of Georgia Altamaha AAA; ensures timely submission of all required reports; completes a variety of forms and reports to document food temperatures, daily activities, nutrition education, outreach, congregate meal recipients, home delivered meal recipients, employee certification and training records.
Promotes the County's senior program by speaking to civic groups, community leaders, faith-based organizations, volunteers, and other individuals/groups as appropriate; ensures efforts are made to refer individuals to the senior center's programs and services with emphasis on identifying isolated and frail elders.
Initiates requests for maintenance or repairs to the senior center facility and/or equipment.
Ensures the center has an average daily attendance of 20 participants with a minimum of 250 operating days per year, and is providing service for a minimum of 4 hours per day.
Prepares departmental budget and monitors expenditures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
