Road Department Crew Leader

The Tattnall County Road Department is currently seeking a dedicated hardworking individual to join our team. In this position, you will be working directly under the Road Superintendent to complete various projects. The ideal candidate should have the ability to pay attention to details, and excellent communication. It is equally important that they have the ability to learn new skills and knowledge within the road department.

Job Responsibilities

• Schedules work crews and assign daily duties.

• Respond to complaints from the general public.

• Locates property lines and set stakes.

• Conducts onsite inspections.

• Installs culverts, digs and clears ditches, and clears rights of way.

• Oversees the maintenance of county roads.

• Processes paperwork: verifies easements, requests permission to enter private property; etc.

• Trains personnel in safety and operating procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

• Must have a Class A CDL in Ga.

• Thorough knowledge of proper road construction and maintenance procedures.

• Knowledge of proper ditching and pipe laying procedures.

• Knowledge of local building codes.

• Skills in achieving proper grade and compaction.

• Skills in reading plats and maps.

• Skills in operating tools and equipment.

• 7-10 years of experience in road maintenance.

• Preferable supervisory experience.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Strong Time management skills.
