Employee Job Description:

The position is responsible for technical work involving inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with city building, electric, and plumbing codes. Responsible for maintain standards of constructions in the city with respect to quality of workmanship,materials design and design and safety.

Duties: Inspects various facets of building such as construction, electrical wiring and plumbing systems. Checks permits and issues permits for buildings, electricity, plumbing, driveway construction, sign erection and trailer placements.

Grants telephone line moving and construction permits. Makes cases against city building code violators.

Compiles data on all building permits issued each month and reports to the mayor. Attends city council meetings, Zoning Board meetings to present information regarding building permits, zoning and trailer permits.

Requirers ability and skills in reading interpreting and enforcing local, state ad federal building codes and regulations. Through knowledge of building construction, including plumbing and electrical wiring. Must keep through and accurate records. Skills in meeting and dealing effectively with city officials, department heads, and the general public.

High school graduate or vocational school of the equivalency or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
