JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for performing a variety of work in the maintenance and repairs county-owned buildings and facilities.
Major Duties:
serves as Building Maintenance Superintendent in his/her absence
performs semi-skilled and some skilled work in maintenance and repairs
Inspects buildings, fixtures, machines, and other structural and/or mechanical units, noting need for repair; performs minor maintenance, such as cleaning or lubricating; pressure washes building exteriors.
Paints and trim paints interior and exterior walls; paints and stripes parking lots.
Performs plumbing repair and maintenance tasks; unclogs pipelines, installs commodes, lavatories, and urinals.
Makes routine air conditioning and electrical repairs such as replacing filters, exhaust fans, lighting fixtures, electrical outlets and ballasts.
Replaces transformers and light bulbs.
Assists in determining when county building's plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems require the repair or maintenance services of outside contractors.
Replaces locks and door closers; repairs chairs, water faucets, and cabinet doors.
Maintains and repairs assigned equipment.
Interacts with customers to determine maintenance or repair requirements.
Performs grounds maintenance duties such as mowing, trimming, and raking.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
3 to 5 years of experience of sufficiently understand the work that is required to be completed and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, heating and air; plumbing, general maintenance.
Valid State of Georgia drivers license
