JOB DESCRIPTION:             Payroll Officer Tattnall County Board of Education

 

QUALIFICATIONS:               

  1. College degree or equivalent in school based human resources or payroll

  2. Project a professional image

  3. Possess positive interpersonal skills

  4. Knowledge of general office practice

  5. Experience with data entry on computer terminal

  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:                       Finance Director

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

            Payroll Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in providing orientation of new employees to the school district.

  2. Process monthly payroll for all employees.

  3. Track federal taxes, state taxes, Social Security and Medicare.

  4. Maintain spreadsheets to track and balance payroll monthly, quarterly, and annually.

  5. Complete quarterly report, W-2 forms, and ACA forms at the appropriate time and submit these reports to the appropriate agencies as required.

  6. Calculate annually new salaries and enter these into payroll.

  7. Post monthly payroll adjustments into the computer.

  8. Department of Labor – Unemployment claims.

  9. Conduct annual wage and salary reviews.

  10. Assist all retiring employees with necessary paperwork.

  11. Establish, coordinate, and maintain the substitute teacher program.

            Leave Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Secretary on Sick Leave Bank committee.

            Workers Compensation:

  1. Receive all First Injury Reports from school systems.

  2. Prepare all first injury reports to submit to GSBA.

  3. Collaborate with GSBA throughout process of each claim.

  4. Assist the employee with return to work issues.

  5. Monitor their status while working with restrictions.

  6. Keep in touch with employees who are recovering from injuries, especially those who are out of work or out of leave.

  7. Notify GSBA staff if an employee refuses to accept offer of suitable employment, or if the employee returns to work at reduced hours or wages.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director.
