Wayne County School System Bus Driver Requirements Clear Background - Cost $10 (The school system will schedule the background check, but the candidate pays the fee.) Medical Exam - The physical is paid for by the school system. (There are certain medical conditions that can cause a candidate to not be eligible to obtain certification.) Required Permits - Class B CDL permit with P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements You get this by taking and passing 4 written tests (General Knowledge, Air Brakes, School Bus, and Passenger) at the Department of Driver Services office. We provide a form that gets you a discount for these written tests, making the cost only $10. You can pick up a CDL DDS study guide at the Bus Shop, 655 Durrence Rd and/or take practice tests online for free at https://m.cristcdl.com Training - After all of the above are competed, onsite School Bus Driver Training will be provided. You are paid for this training time once you have completed all of the licensing requirements for tranporting students. The onsite training consists of 12 hours classroom time called Entry Level Driver Training, ELDT, 6 hours driving the bus without students, a Class B CDL exam over the School Bus, and 6 hours driving the bus with students.
