Katelyn Waters, ITA Program

Katelyn Waters enrolled in the WIOA ITA Program in October 2023. She was attending Ogeechee Technical College’s Sonography Program. She had recently lost her job and was having difficulty finding employment. She needed financial assistance to help with the cost of attending school. WIOA was able to help Katelyn by providing help with tuition, books, testing fees, and transportation stipends. She recently graduated with an Associate Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography with a 4.0 GPA. She has accepted a full-time position at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. We are very proud of Katelyn and all of her accomplishments.

Katelyn had this to say about her time in the WIOA Program. “WIOA has helped me so much in the past year and a half. I am happy to say that I have recently graduated with my associate’s degree. Earning this degree has many challenges, whether mental, physical, or financial. WIOA helped me so much by taking care of the financial aspect of this program. They helped pay for my tuition, scrubs, clinical shoes, books, study materials, registries, and assisted with my travel expenses. Adding up all these expenses can become very overwhelming, textbooks alone cost hundreds of dollars. WIOA has helped me to earn my degree and start my career debt-free. Thankfully, I do not have to begin my career with the burden of student loans, and for that, I thank WIOA.”
