Tanslei Lupton, Youth Program
Tanslei Lupton enrolled in the WIOA Youth Program shortly after graduating from high school with the goal of pursuing a college education and fulfilling her dream of becoming a teacher. She was accepted to Georgia Southern University, where she began working toward her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. Throughout her time in the WIOA Youth Program, Tanslei participated in the Work Experience Program, which allowed her to earn additional income while attending school. WIOA also helped remove financial barriers by covering the costs of her books, supplies, testing fees, and graduation expenses, including her cap and gown. In addition, she received transportation stipends to assist with the cost of commuting to and from campus. Through her determination, perseverance, and commitment to her education, Tanslei successfully earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. She has accepted a position as a sixth-grade math teacher at Claxton Middle School, where she will begin making a positive impact on the lives of her students. We are incredibly proud of Tanslei and all that she has accomplished. Her dedication to education and passion for helping others will make her an outstanding educator and a valuable asset to her school, her students, and the teaching profession.
Tanslei had this to say about WIOA. “I first heard about WIOA from the One Stop Center in Claxton. I was looking for assistance that would help me successfully earn a degree and prepare for employment after graduation. The WIOA program provided me with guidance, encouragement, and financial assistance throughout my educational journey. The staff were always helpful in answering questions, checking in on my progress, and making sure I had the resources I needed to stay on track. These services were essential to my success because they helped relieve some of the financial stress that comes with completing college and beginning a career. Because of the support from WIOA, I was able to focus on my education, successfully graduate Summa Cum Laude, and begin my teaching career. WIOA gave me opportunities and support that truly made a difference in my life, and I am very thankful for the encouragement and assistance I received throughout the process.”
