Chesley Woods was enrolled in the WIOA ITA program in October 2022. He was attending Southeastern Technical College’s Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) program.  He had recently been laid off and needed financial assistance to help with the expense of continuing school.  WIOA was able to help cover the cost of tuition, books, exam fees, and uniforms.  He also received transportation stipends to help with the cost of traveling back and forth to school and clinical sites.  Chesley worked very hard and completed the ASN program with a 3.20 GPA.  We are so proud of him for his accomplishments and can’t wait to see him continue to reach his goals. 

Chesley had this to say about his experience in the WIOA program.  “WIOA was first mentioned to me during my first semester of nursing school.  I applied and was accepted and began to reap the benefits of this program.  WIOA has been a huge blessing to me and many others in my nursing cohort.  I was able to focus more intently on my studies rather than worrying how I would be able to cover the cost of attending.  My friends all joke with me regarding how often I talk about WIOA and share with other new and incoming students about how much the program has helped me and how it can help them too.  I can now say I have successfully graduated from STC with my Associate of Science Degree in Nursing.  I am incredibly thankful for WIOA and all the wonderful women who worked with me.  Thank you all so much for helping me reach a huge milestone in my life.  I will continue recommending WIOA to any prospective student I speak with in the future.”
