JOHNSON COUNTY

Elizabeth Colston, from Johnson County, was enrolled in the WIOA Out of School Youth program in May 2022. She had recently received her GED and needed assistance enrolling in college. She knew she wanted to work with children and decided to attend East Georgia College’s Elementary Education program. WIOA assisted Elizabeth by providing transportation stipends and paying for her books and fees. She also completed Occupational Skills Training and participated in the Youth Work Experience program. Elizabeth worked very hard and maintained the Deans Merit List while attending school. She recently graduated with her Associate of Arts in Elementary Education. She has decided to further her education and is now attending college to receive her Bachelor’s in Education. We are so proud of Elizabeth and all of her accomplishments. 

Elizabeth had this to say about WIOA, “This program has helped me out in so many aspects of life. The staff are always so kind and supportive. WIOA was such a blessing, and I’m so thankful I was able to experience being in this program.”
