    Jeremiah Bridges, Youth Program WHEELER COUNTY Jeremiah Bridges, Youth Program Jeremiah Bridges is an 18-year-old from Alamo, Georgia. He came to WIOA when he was in 10th grade in high school to seek help to find employment so that he could gain work experience. He was enrolled in the WIOA In-School Youth Program in January of 2020. Jeremiah’s goals were to complete high school and go on to college for Auto Mechanics. During his time in the Youth Program, Jeremiah participated in Work Experience and was placed at Selph’s Body Shop. He has been a positive young man and worked very hard to accomplish his goals! Jeremiah is now a 2022 graduate of Wheeler County High School.     Nora Collins, ITA Program TATTNALL COUNTY Nora Collins, ITA Program Nora Collins enrolled in the WIOA ITA program in September 2023. As the spouse of a disabled veteran, Nora had taken on the unexpected role as the sole provider for their family. She was underemployed and needed financial assistance to continue her training, which would hopefully lead to a better job and enable her to become self-sufficient. She had recently been accepted into the Medical Laboratory Technician program at Southeastern Technical College. WIOA assisted by covering the costs of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and uniforms while also providing her with transportation stipends. Nora graduated with a 3.49 GPA, earning her associate’s degree, and then passed the testing to receive her state licensing credentials. She has accepted a full-time position as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Evans Memorial Hospital. Nora had this to say, “WIOA is a great program that helped me financially throughout my college journey until I graduated. Without WIOA, I would not have been able to afford the cost of school or the gas to go back and forth to clinicals. I earned my associate’s degree as a Medical Laboratory Tech.     Ryan Chang, ITA Program DODGE COUNTY Ryan Chang, ITA Program Ryan Chang joined the WIOA ITA Program in April 2024. He was in the Aviation Maintenance Airframe and Powerplant Technician program at Middle Georgia State University. He was unemployed and needed assistance covering some of the out-of-pocket fees associated with his program of study. WIOA provided Ryan with transportation stipends for each day of attendance and covered the cost of graduation fees and the extensive testing required. Ryan worked hard and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his entire college career, earning him a spot on the President’s List each semester. He also received a Certificate of Outstanding Academic Excellence and was named the AMT student of the year. Ryan recently graduated and received his Certificate from the Aviation Maintenance Tech program. He then successfully passed all three written exams and all three oral and practical exams required by the FAA to receive his certifications.     TOOMBS COUNTY Samanta Dixon, ITA Program Samanta Dixon, a native of Toombs County, was attending Southeastern Technical College’s Licensed Practical Nursing Program when enrolled in the WIOA program. She was employed part-time with Memorial Health Meadows Hospital but was only PRN (as needed). With the lack of income, the financial burden of completing the LPN program was overwhelming. Samanta needed WIOA assistance to help with her tuition, supplies, and the daily transportation stipend to continue attending school. Since completing the Licensed Practical Nursing program in Spring 2022, she passed her state board exam and was offered a full-time position at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital as an LPN. Samanta has been a great participant, she has worked very hard and overcome obstacles that would have caused many people to give up, but she persisted and achieved her goals! Samanta shared her experience by saying, “Two months before enrolling in the program, I went through a very traumatic experience. I began the LPN program knowing the financial burden it would be. I’m very thankful for WIOA and the help I received with uniforms, weekly stipends, and required testing fees.     LAURENS COUNTY Adriel Aaron, Youth Program ​ Adriel Aaron, who is 19 years old from Laurens County, has been in WIOA for about two years. During that time, she has attended Occupational Skills Training, Adult Education Courses, and participated in Youth Work Experience. Coming from a single parent home, it was difficult for Adriel to get back and forth to school without having a job. With the help of WIOA, Adriel was able to attend classes regularly and received her GED. Adriel has now enrolled in classes at Oconee Fall Line Technical College and is pursuing her degree in Criminal Justice. She has now completed her 2nd semester and maintains good grades while also participating in the Work-Study Program. Adriel has come a long way, and we are so proud of the work she has put into being successful! This is what Adriel had to say about her time in the WIOA Youth Program, “Because of WIOA, I am able to provide for myself and get to school without having to worry about gas.     DODGE COUNTY Lindsay Hardeman, ITA Participant Lindsay Hardeman was enrolled in the WIOA ITA program in February 2021. She was laid off from her position at Glamourous Peach Boutique and was determined eligible as a Dislocated Worker under the National Dislocated Worker COVID-19 Grant. She was attending Oconee Fall Line Technical College pursuing a degree in Radiology. She needed financial assistance with the costs of the program. WIOA helped cover the expense of tuition, books, supplies, testing fees, and transportation. Lindsay completed the program and received her Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology on May 2,2022 with a 3.27 GPA. She was offered a position with Dodge County Hospital in the Radiology Department and is loving her career path. Lindsay had this to say about the WIOA program, “Before receiving WIOA I worried constantly and wondered how I would financially be able to finish my degree.     TREUTLEN COUNTY Tamara Burgess, Youth Program Tamara Burgess is a 19-year-old graduate from Treutlen County. Tamara enrolled in the WIOA In-School Youth Program in November 2019 as a Junior in high school. She needed assistance to be able to graduate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tamara’s school transitioned to virtual learning during the final months of her junior year. Like many other students in this situation, Tamara was unable to complete her required credits to be promoted to the 12th grade for the following school year. When the new school year began, Tamara’s WIOA youth case manager and teachers worked with Tamara to develop a plan for her to complete her junior credits and get back on track to graduate. Tamara worked very hard and passed all her classes! She was promoted to the 12th grade and returned to in-person instruction for her senior year. Tamara completed her senior year and graduated high school in May 2022. We are very proud of Tamara for continuing to pursue her educational goals and working hard to overcome the obstacles she faced!
